We are recruiting outstanding CNAS majors who will serve as a CNAS Transfer Connections Peer Mentors for CNAS Transfer students. This position will include up to 10 hours per week of mentoring, planning, and student services activities. Training will be given on mentoring techniques and ongoing training for tasks that could potentially include reserving rooms, website editing/building, planning socials, and much more. You will be able to make a difference by helping incoming transfer students acclimate to the university campus. This job can start Summer 2024 and/or Fall 2024-Spring 2025 (academic year).
If you are able to start Summer 2024, you will serve in a mentoring role for the summer RISE program. This position will include training on planning, mentoring, and facilitating topics covered in the workshops. It will be a professional atmosphere where you can make the difference for undergraduate students engaged in summer research.
Training:
Students selected for the position must complete ongoing peer mentor training to learn RISE structure, mentoring techniques, and to develop peer counseling and presentation skills. Week 9 (Wednesday-Friday) of the Spring quarter is reserved for formal 3-day training for the summer. Week 0 (Monday through Wednesday) of the Fall quarter is typically reserved for formal 3-day training for academic training.

Peer Mentor Selection:
- Based on the completed application and interview (required).
Qualifications:
- CNAS Major
- Must be in good academic standing
- Satisfactory Completion of either Calculus, General Physics, or General Biology and General Chemistry Series
- 90 Units completed at the time of application
- (UCR Transfer Students need one-quarter of UCR coursework completed)
- Other
- Special consideration for current UCR Transfer students, but not a qualification
- Work-study preferred
